The New Hampshire Estuaries Project's (NHEP's) Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan presents a series of goals, objectives, and Action Items designed to improve, protect, and enhance the environmental quality of the state's estuaries. The NHEP has developed an environmental monitoring program, an annual grants program, and several partnership projects to help achieve its objectives. These programs involve a broad range of coastal watershed organizations, including federal, state, and municipal government bodies as well as non-governmental entities.
The NHEP's Environmental Monitoring Program involves a comprehensive data collection, analysis, and reporting plan to provide information on over 30 environmental indicators.
The NHEP is a member of the Partnership to Restore New Hampshire’s Estuaries - a coalition of agencies and organizations working together to increase the pace and scale of restoration efforts to improve the long-term sustainability of the state’s estuaries.
The NHEP supports implementation activities and projects that are described in the Management Plan. In some cases, the NHEP directly completes projects; however, usually other organizations perform project tasks. One area of focus for the NHEP is community assistance. Projects, programs, and grant opportunities for communities can be found on the Community Assistance page.
The NHEP routinely issues Requests for Proposals to solicit project proposals, and awards grants based on competitive review of proposals. Funding opportunities are listed on the NHEP's Grant Programs page.
